This time it is not about looking back on the journey I made or looking forward envisioning the future thinking about my desires and aspirations, but to take a moment to look at where I stand today. Right here, right now, in this moment.

Confidence is the key

I’ve discovered that comfort and confidence play pivotal roles in my way of working. It begins with the technicalities of setting up lights or shooting in black and white or choosing a colour profile. My confidence comes from knowing my skills. I would never consider myself as a master of studio lighting, but I know I can create a light based on my skills and that is good enough for the atmosphere I would like to create.

But more than that I know my ability to communicate my ideas, to create a space where models can transcend rehearsed poses, my capability to foster an atmosphere of experimentation which is crucial for me to create a great picture. I rarely direct the model and let them do their thing, but I also show them the direction I would like to go.

I have trust in the process

Preparation an important part of the process, so I collect ideas and write down the thought processes that goes into a shooting. But on the day of the hooting these things only serve as a rough frame for me on and I can forget about the all the preparation to open myself to surprises to experiments and opportunities that show up in unexpected ways.

Knowing my why

I am constantly asking what the purpose of my pictures is. Knowing that I can create beautiful pictures is a foundation that allows me to explore what is beyond and what do I want to say. As much as I want my pictures to serve a higher goal, I am satisfied today that it makes me feel good being creative.

My curiosity will drive me to grow and develop as a photographer. I’m looking forward to the fact that I still have a lot to learn and that there is a long journey ahead, that my photography will change, and I eagerly anticipate the evolving journey that lies ahead, exploring new aspects of myself through the lens.

Embrace imperfection

I got the courage to post imperfect pictures online. I no longer seek admiration from my peers. I see the value of feedback, both positive and constructive. I appreciate the discussion about my pictures and being asked to explain myself.

It is fascinating how the imperfections can be the soul of a photograph It’s about embracing the quirks and flaws, seeing beyond the pursuit of technical perfection. It’s in these imperfections that authenticity thrives, giving our work a unique fingerprint.

Because in the end, a good picture isn’t just about pixels and composition; it’s about the emotion, the story, and the connection it evokes. It’s about the art of seeing, truly seeing, what is right in front of us.

Reflecting on my photography journey: It’s about the confidence to embrace imperfections, the joy of creative exploration, and the art of truly seeing the story in front of us

[2

post-567","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-conscious-photography
["GET
